Resorts World NYC Organizes Fair for Local Businesses

Resorts World New York City is inviting Queens business owners and entrepreneurs to a procurement fair this week. At the event, local businesses will be able to learn how they can team up with the casino. For those interested in joining the event, they will be able to do so on Monday, November 6, 2023, at the South Ozone Park-based gaming property.

At the event, guests will be able to meet officials from the casino and hear about what business opportunities are available at the casino. There will be two sessions on Monday, one from noon to 2 p.m. and the other from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Local business owners, minority and women-owned businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned businesses and others are all welcome.

Empowering Local Businesses and More

RWNYC Senior Vice President of Community Development Michelle Stoddart said the casino has been a proud Queens resident for quite a while now and it has tried to empower businesses in the area. She added its commitment was to be a major destination backed by local enterprises, which is why events such as the fair on Monday are important.

Meanwhile, there are other gambling opportunities on the horizon as on Thursday, November 17, 2023, state Sen. Joseph Addabbo will host his annual job fair at the Queens casinos. Numerous companies will be at the event looking to hire from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The senator urges everyone who plans to attend to get in their business attire and bring copies of their resumes.

Mr. Addabbo noted that this is one of the largest events he hosts annually and he is grateful to vendors, the casino, co-sponsors, and the Queens Chamber of Commerce for helping him deliver more job opportunities for people. He added that helping people in finding work was one of the most important services he can provide as an elected official in New York.

For the event, the casino will provide free parking for potential job seekers in a lot directly across from the main entrance, while the building is also wheelchair accessible. The senator also remarked that businesses in need of new hires should reach out to his district office that they would be given a free table at the fair, and that there will be more than 100 companies at the event.

Providing Millions for Education

Since its launch, RWNYC has been a major contributor to the local economy as in that time it has delivered over U$4 billion in revenue for New York’s lottery education fund. In just 12 years, the property has provided enough proceeds to pay the salaries of 45,000 public teachers. But this volume could increase further if it expands to a full-scale casino.

But in order to become a fully-fledged Class III gaming property, the establishment needs to acquire one of the three downstate licenses. RWNYC has some good chances of expanding as it was previously backed by Queens community groups and organizations who want to see it bolster services as it would provide more benefits and jobs to the region.
